Parcours

05.05. 2012 -03.06. 2012, Dock20 (former Galerie Hollenstein), Lustenau / AT
Claudia Larcher und Liddy Scheffknecht

The preoccupation with public and private environments is a common element in the works of Claudia Larcher and Liddy Scheffknecht. The exhibition "Parcours" at Galerie Stephanie Hollenstein shows a sequence of works that leads from the communal outdoor space to the non-public indoor space. Photographs, objects and videos dedicated to the public space - the street, the square, the façade - are followed by installations in which the boundary between inside and outside becomes blurred. Finally, the path leads to video installations and image sequences that focus on the domestic interior: the room, the furniture, the living atmosphere.

On two advertising pillars (one in the public space in Lustenau, the other in the Hollenstein Gallery), a picture of Stephanie Hollenstein is drawn, which is to illuminate different sides of the ambivalent artist. For this purpose, photos, documents, letters, exhibition reviews, etc. were taken from her estate and were photographed for this purpose. A selection of these materials are collaged on the advertising pillars.
The exhibition Parcours thus does not begin in the gallery but already in the public space - in the centre of Lustenau. The advertising pillar is used in its original function, as an information carrier.

In the gallery itself, the path leads from works that are dedicated to the (public) outdoor space, via intermediate areas (inside - outside) to works devoted to the (private) interior.
