Baumeister

04.07. 2012 -21.09. 2012, ORF Funkhaus, Dornbirn
curated by Carina Jielg

In her works, Claudia Larcher deals with spaces that appear familiar at first glance. On the one hand, the spaces are topographical features, on the other hand they are spaces of memory and imagination. For the exhibition at the Funkhaus, Larcher takes on the unusual architecture of Gustav Peichl, whose Funkhaus in Dornbirn was opened in 1972. Larcher develops a video animation that deals with the technical, abstract and mathematical aesthetics of the Funkhaus.

The ground plan of the building is reminiscent of a snail and the spiral movement is reflected in Larcher's digitally constructed, seemingly impossible camera movements. The basement with its corridors, ducts and pipes runs radially away from the core and is reminiscent of a set for a science fiction film. Larcher mixes architectural details with surreal visions. Alongside the video installation, a new series of architectural collages will be shown.
